What FlyDee is
FlyDee is a mobile app for people who want to quit or cut back on an addictive habit — nicotine, alcohol, gambling, compulsive phone use, sugar — and for the people close to them. It combines a progress tracker, an AI companion for the moment a craving hits, an anonymous community, and a way to book a certified therapist inside the app. The core app is free; it is available on the App Store and Huawei AppGallery.
This site is the English and Spanish home of FlyDee. The Russian-language site, where the app started, is flydee.ru. It is the same product and the same team.
Who writes and reviews the content
Everything published here — the articles and the self-assessment tests — is written and reviewed by the FlyDee Clinical Psychology Team: the clinical psychologists who design the app's support programs. We do not publish under invented names or borrowed credentials. Where an article names its author and reviewer, it names this team and the area of practice the reviewer covers.
We are a self-help product, not a clinic. Our people do not diagnose or treat readers of this site, and nothing here is a substitute for care from a clinician who knows your history. Every article and test says so explicitly, and tells you when a symptom or a score means it is time to see one.
How an article is made
Each article is written for the market it serves rather than translated. A guide for U.S. readers cites U.S. guidance — NIAAA, CDC, FDA, SAMHSA — and U.S. helplines; a guide for Latin America cites WHO, PAHO and national health authorities of the region. We do not carry facts, laws or phone numbers across borders.
Every article carries:
- the author and the reviewer, with the reviewer's area of practice;
- the publication date and the date of the last substantive update;
- a list of sources — public health bodies, diagnostic manuals (DSM-5, ICD-11), peer-reviewed research — linked so you can check them;
- a section on when to seek professional help, with the relevant national helpline.
And every article follows the same rules:
- no guarantees of outcome — recovery is individual, and any text that promises a result is overselling;
- no medication dosing — we describe classes of treatment and say that a clinician prescribes;
- no third-party apps or clinics by name — comparisons are made between approaches, not brands;
- no filler — if a paragraph does not tell you something you can act on, it is cut.
When we correct a factual error, we update the article and its "updated" date. If you spot one, write to us — the address is below.
How the self-tests work
The self-assessment tests are not our questionnaires. They are validated clinical screening instruments, used in their standard published form: the World Health Organization's AUDIT for alcohol, the Fagerström Test (FTND) for nicotine, the South Oaks Gambling Screen (SOGS) for gambling, and the Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS-SV) for phone use. Our part is the plain-language explanation of what a score means and what to do next.
Scoring happens in your browser. Your answers are not sent to us or stored anywhere. A test is a screen, not a diagnosis; a high score is a reason to talk to a professional, not a verdict.
If you need help now
In the United States, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and SAMHSA's National Helpline (1-800-662-4357) are free, confidential and open 24 hours a day. Every article on this site lists the helpline relevant to its topic and region.
